First Call! Whistler “Do” February 2015

Hey folks so I appreciate it is right in the middle of July now so I am sure you are all thinking about skiing? Oh ok, so maybe not. But just wanted to make a first call mention on a small gathering we are planning for a “Do” in Whistler next year. The dates are set for the weekend of February 20th-22nd 2015 (duly corrected!) and it will be hosted by myself and MilesPointsAndMaiTais. Hopefully Marathon Man will join us two. There is an FT thread here. Exact plans and times etc are to be confirmed but for sure we plan to ski plenty and then in the evenings have some gatherings where we can discuss the days snow along with the usual banter about miles, points, manufactured spend and crazy deals.

Readers will know I am a huge fan of Whistler, which is remarkably accessible to the miles and points collector. I have written before about how you can relatively easily get a family up to Whistler for very low cost. I’ve already booked my flights there and back on Cathay Pacific in business class (hoping some First Class opens up!) which is just about the best transpacific flight available and great use of either Avios, AA or now US Airways Dividend miles.

Also worth noting that Whistler is part of the Mountain Collective Pass which I have written about numerous times over the past couple of years. At the time of writing they are still offering 1 extra day at one of the resorts, so if you sign up now you can get 3 days at Whistler for $359 plus two days at all the other resorts (you’d only need to go to one other resort to start making this profitable). And 3 days at Whistler for kids for $99 is a bargain in it’s own right even if you never use any of the other resorts.

I will be drumming this up some more as we get to the end of the year but wanted to put a first call out there so anyone keen to go an awesome ski resort with some fellow miles and points maniacs can start their planning now. Happy skiing!!!
