Via AirlineRoute, Etihad is adding a second daily service between Abu Dhabi and New York JFK. The AirlineRoute piece appears to be incorrectly stating the service going through 29 Mar 2014, it is loaded in the system throughout 2014.

The new flight details are:

EY103 – AUH 01:45 – 08:45 JFK

EY102 – JFK 12:35 – 09:20+1 AUH

Looking at award availability it appears the new flights are wide open with two first class, two business class and five coach seats available in both directions on every single date I checked.

The return from Abu Dhabi is particularly nice as many flights arrive into AUH in the evening and this has meant passengers going on to the USA needing to stay overnight. For our upcoming Maldives trip I am going to switch out our flight to the new departure time to get us back into NYC a half day earlier and save a pointless hotel night in Abu Dhabi.

Etihad has in my opinion one of the best in-flight products available and you can read my trip report of flying First Class on this route with them here.

I just successfully switched our flight in April to the new flight, confirming AA can see the new flight and book it with miles. Of note, the 2F and 2J seats we had on the other existing flight went straight back into inventory and are available to book again.
